  1. North has minimum values and 4 card support, so a simple raise to 3D seems good. With nothing extra South would pass.

  2. What to lead? Leading away from a KJ is ugly, but also leading into dummy's first bid suit carries risks as the suit could be set up for discards once trumps are drawn. This suggests a spade is best. Indeed, DDA indicates a spade has an advantage at both IMPs and MPs (3% better at IMPs and 0.1 tricks better than the next best which was a diamond.
