  1. Some might overcall 4H with the south cards which could work out poorly if EW can double.

    West is awkwardly placed after 3H with such good hearts and such a good hand. Most people play takeout doubles as such a hand as we have here is quite unlikely on this sort of auction.

    West could bid 3NT but that does not show the full strength of the hand.

    I have a sneaking admiration for the 5S bid on the next round to try and communicate the strength even when a spade fit is not guaranteed.
