  1. This time south did too much bidding. With a minimum hand you need to try and make a minimum rebid. The 2H rebid is in the opponent's suit and shows a very good hand. If it was not the opponent's suit it would show a reverse - about 16+ points.

    Curiously east with close to the best hand at the table took no bid.

    I like an auction like

    Pass 1D 1H 1S
    1NT Pass 2H ...

    maybe then north can bid 3C although some might play that as game forcing in which case you are not strong enough to compete further.
