  1. South really has too many points for 3NT as North's 2D is quite wide ranging. It is this type of hand that 4th suit forcing was designed for, which is usually played as a GF. The immediate responses relate to bidding NT with a stopper, so in the case above North would bid 2NT over 2H, showing a heart stop and minimum values. Over which South would think that slam is not likely and just bid 3NT.
