  1. If playing ACOL North is too strong for 1NT. As a general rule once having described your hand to partner with 1NT, partner is better placed to know where the contract should be played as they know a lot more about your hand than you do of theirs, so North should just pass over 2H.

  2. A normal auction might be:

    1D P 1NT 2H
    All Pass

    Possibly south could balance with 3C on the second round. It would be standard with a sixth club. Maybe the very good suit makes up for the lack of a club. However the hand has some negative features - the three small hearts and balanced shape.
