2C is Michaels showing both majors. X by east is TOD clearly showing 4+ diamonds and longer clubs and must be strong to be competing to the 3 level. 2S by south shows longer spades than hearts, ie 6=5, in case pard had equal length for 2h. In addition it says "I have interest in game". West can see the double fit so plucks up the courage to bid 3D. North also can see a double fit so bids game. East bids 5d given pard made a free bid. North is in a difficult situation. He can tell there is a massive double fit both ways, and his QD is terrible. 5D is quite likely making, and pard could easily have AKxxxx, AKxxx, x, x so 5H is a reasonable chance to make and if not a cheap sacrifice.
